I have many psych issues, one of which is depression. I26039;ve seen several counselors over the years. Some helped, some didn26039;t. There are different approaches that counselors can take, such as more traditional psychotherapy to cognitive-behaviverbal therapy to a real mish-mash approach. Many sites on mental health have overviews of the types of therapy.

Another thing is the therapist him/herself. One friend of mine saw the same therapist as I did and she had a positive experience. I didn26039;t. We just didn26039;t mesh well.

The other variable is YOU. Are you willing to do the work? The no1 experience I26039;ve had with a counselor was when I was an active part of my treatment. Therapy isn26039;t a heal; it26039;s skills.
